The Brantley Jackson Memorial Award: Charles L. “Trey” Morgan, III, CPL
This year the ETAPL recognizes Charles L. “Trey” Morgan, III, CPL as the recipient of the Brantley Jackson Memorial Award. The Brantley Jackson Memorial Award is given annually to a member of ETAPL and is intended to honor Brantley Jackson for his professional, ethical and personal standards and to recognize outstanding contributions to the land profession by the recipient.

The Pioneer Award: Kelly W. Walker, CPL
The Pioneer Award is bestowed upon a recipient who qualifies in one or more of the following categories: Many years of dedicated service to the land profession; an innovator in the land profession; many years of dedicated service to ETAPL. Kelly W. Walker, CPL, qualifies in each of these categories and is the recipient of this years Pioneer Award.

The President’s Award: Freeman Mills, PC
In recognition of the generous contribution of their time, effort and resources to the Oil and Gas industry and to the ETAPL, the President’s Award is made to Freeman Mills, PC.

Past President’s Award: Jon Tate
The Past President’s Award was created to express our sincere thanks for a job well done and show our appreciation for the long hours and extra effort that are often required of this office. Jon Tate wore many hats and worked tirelessly to make this past year a great one for ETAPL. Thanks Jon!

This course gives an overview of the work done on leases by an Independent Landman in the oil and gas industry. One hour will be devoted to ethics for a landman in a leasing project.

Let an experienced Certified Petroleum Landman share practical wisdom about getting through the courthouse maze. This introductory course is designed for the practical application of business procedures for petroleum landmen, realtors, right-of-way agents and mineral and property owners.

This class will go through the processes involved in preparing a runsheet, or list of the documents that affect the title to a tract of land, by reviewing and analyzing the various types of deeds and conveyances that are recorded in the County Clerk’s Office.

This year’s party will be held on December 2, 2011 at the Cascades from 7:00 PM — 12:00 A.M. Festivities will consist of a live band, dancing, heavy hors d’oeuvre stations and access to a full cash bar. We will have a photographer on hand for pictures. There will be door prizes. SILENT AUCTION ITEMS NEEDED!

Attendees to this year’s party are not required to be a member of the ETAPL; our benefit is open to other industry-related companies and individuals.

Raffle tickets are $25.00 each and will be available at the October and November meetings and at the Fall Seminar. You do not have to be a member of the ETAPL; tickets are public and you need not be present to win.

The Social Hour will start at 6:30 and dinner will be served at 7:30. Lane Brown will speak on “A Brief History of Early Title in Texas; or What the Heck is a Patent”?

Dress is “Business Casual” and all ETAPL Officers and Directors should plan to attend a 5:30 business meeting.

If you would like to help support these dedicated men and women, the ETAPL will accept your monetary donation and carry the checks to the Fire Marshall, Connie Wasson, who is also the secretary of the Smith County Volunteer Firemen’s Association. We will collect checks by mail and at the meeting on Thursday night, September 15. On the following Monday, we will take the checks to Fire Marshall Wasson, who will make a check to each department in equal amounts.
